Some words need more than an equivalent.
They need another life.
Stories, voices and ideas do not always travel neatly between languages. A phrase may carry a rhythm, an image, a cultural reference or a feeling that has no exact counterpart on the other side.
This is where translation becomes an act of interpretation as much as language.
My creative work spans publishing, literary and editorial translation, subtitling, transcreation, and brand & marketing content. Depending on the project, that may mean staying close to an author’s voice, reshaping a line so it feels natural on screen, or finding a new expression that carries the same spirit for a different audience.
I believe a creative translation should not read like something that has simply been transferred from elsewhere. It should feel alive in its new language — while still carrying the voice, intention and character that made the original worth translating.
